Mangalore, Dec 10: ‘Beary Sammelana 2011’ was inaugurated by releasing of five works from ‘Akshara Santha’ Harekala Hajabba at Town Hall here on Saturday December 10.

In his inaugural address though Hajabba addressed the audience in Kannada at first, heeding to the demands of the audience, he switched to Beary language. In his message he said, "Let there be support galore from all segments of the society towards education. Only educational revolution in the Beary community and society would bring changes."

Delivering his keynote address, president of Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy M B Abdul Rahman said that people in Beary community love Kannada language as much as they love their mother tongue. The contribution of Bearys to Kannada language is remarkable, he noted.

Clarifying the issues raised by media as to why it is named 'Beary Sammelana 2011', instead of Beary Sahitya Sammelana 2011 (Beary Literature Convention – 2011) he said that this Sammelana is not merely focusing on literature but on the language and culture too. He added that Beary community is known for its hospitality, which is a unique factor in itself.

Kendra Beary Sahithya Parishad founder president Abdul Raheem introduced the works, 'Perime' – a research book, 'The Bearys of Tulunadu' by Prof B M Ichlangodu, 'Tulunadina Byarigalu' (translated by Thufail Mohammed), 'The Beary Language' (Dr Sushila P Upadyaya) and 'Beary Baashe' (translated by Dr Sushila P Upadyaya).
