Bhatkal, Dec 15: Suresh Rajaram Bagiri of Maharashtra regained consciousness on Monday December 12. He was safely taken home after treatment in Mangalore on Wednesday December 13.
Nisar Ruknuddin, a social worker based in the taluk was felicitated by the government for helping Rajaram during his treatment in the hospital and arranging his journey back home.
Rajaram fell off the moving train near Shirur Bridge, while traveling by the Mangalore-Mumbai Matsyagandha express and was critically injured on December 5 evening.
Later he was taken to Bhatkal government hospital, his condition was critical. No one came forward to help after he was admitted to the hospital except Nisar Ruknuddin, who with the help of some Muslim locals arranged an ambulance and took Rajaram to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore where he could get better treatment.
On Dec 12 the injured came out of coma and identified himself as Suresh Rajaram Bagiri a resident of Ratnagiri in Maharastra.
According to him, he was traveling to Ratnagiri and felt like fainting and fell off the speeding train. Rajesh further said that he had some money, mobile, train tickets and some papers in possession when he fell, he doubts somebody has taken it when he was unconscious.
Rajaram also said that people here are very helpful and especially Nisar Ahmed Ruknaddin, who helped him a lot as he did not had a penny in possession. He thanked people of the taluk for their support and care, he also said that he learnt many things from people here.
Rajaram was safely taken to his home town Ratnagiri on Wednesday December 13.
