Sancoale, Dec 1: The annual day of Holy Family Communication Centre, Sancoale, was celebrated on November 22 at Holy Family Multipurpose Hall with the theme "Digital Innovation for Sustainability." The event featured inter-school competitions for students from pre-primary to class nine, social centres, and formatees from Holy Family Educational Society schools. It aimed to inspire and educate students about the importance of leveraging digital tools and technologies to promote sustainable practices.
The program began with a prayer dance invoking divine blessings, followed by a welcome address by directress Sr Molly Fernandes. She highlighted the need to integrate digital innovation into daily life to build a sustainable future, referencing the biblical instruction to "till it and take care of it." She urged all to embrace digital solutions to drive positive change and address environmental and societal challenges.
The dignitaries and guests were welcomed with floral potted plants symbolizing growth and sustainability, setting a positive tone for the event.
The chief guest, Guarang S Patkar, in his address, emphasized the relevance of the event's theme, stating:
"The theme of this year's annual day, 'Digital Innovation for Sustainability,' is not just timely; it is essential. We've achieved remarkable technological advancements, and now it is crucial to collaborate across sectors to ensure these technologies contribute to a sustainable future. HOFCOM's commitment to innovation and sustainability inspires hope and lays the foundation for a smarter, greener world. Together, we can embrace challenges with optimism and create solutions that benefit humanity and protect the planet. Thank you for the honour of being part of this event."
The guest of honour, Rev Fr Eddison Fernandes sdb, and superior general Sr Berna Rodrigues graced the occasion with their presence, inspiring both students and staff.
The event also included a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing students' achievements in academics, sustainable practices, and digital innovation projects. St Michael’s Convent High School, Anjuna, received the rolling trophy for overall excellence.
A special highlight was the release of the quarterly magazine Savera, published by Holy Family Communication Centre, on the theme "Digital Missionaries."
Tokens of appreciation were presented to the chief guest and dignitaries for their contributions.
Sr Francilla Mascarenhas delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event's success. The program was seamlessly compered by Sr Aida Rodrigues, ensuring an engaging and smooth flow.
