Mysore: Girl Student Who Fell Into Sambar Utensil, Dies

Mysore, Dec 17: B U Apoorva, second standard student of the government higher primary school at Katte Hunasur in Heggada Devana Kote taluk of the district, who had fallen into the Sambar utensil at the time of distribution of hot lunch under the Akshara Dasoha programme of the government on December 14, died of burns in the wee hours on Friday December 16.

The girl, who was standing in queue for her turn to collect food, had accidentally fallen into the hot Sambar utensil. Although she was immediately taken out and provided treatment, she had by then, suffered grave burn injuries. After providing first aid at H D Kote hospital, she had been admitted into K R Hospital in the city. Although the doctors tried their best to save her, their efforts proved futile.

Relating to the incident, two persons, employed at the school for making hot meals, have been dismissed from service. Headmaster of the school, K Srinivas, has been suspended by the zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Satyavati, pending enquiry.
