Kuwait: KCWA holds Talents’ Competition 2024

Kuwait, Dec 2: The Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), one of Kuwait’s premier associations, was formed in 1988 with a slogan 'In pursuit to provide education to poor children' which is also the primary motto. Alongside the education, KCWA is dedicated to nurturing the talents of its members and their children, discovering hidden abilities that have since flourished within the community.

KCWA Talent Competition 2024 was held on Friday, November 29 at the Indian Community School, Khaitan. The event commenced by the compares Johnson D’Almeida and Reena Pereira with an opening prayer led by Praveen Fernandes. The day started with off-stage competitions, including the Bible character costume with parent contest, lego/blocks model, colouring- St. Arethas Portrait, draw and color-christmas tree, christmas ornaments art and craft, memory game, hair style (shendo/bun), christmas star. The ICSK auditorium was brimming with participants eager to showcase their talents.

Following the off-stage competitions, the stage performances commenced, hosted by Jayson Dsouza and Teena Dmello. The stage competitions featured a variety of acts such as fancy dress – bird/animal, fancy dress – community helpers, solo singing, I got talent, group dance junior, group dance senior, and Konkani medley singing. The participants lit up the stage with their remarkable performances, and the audience was especially captivated by the younger contestants, whose innocence and charm made the event all the more enchanting.

The judges for the competitions were Manoj Kumar, Anita Sequeira, Dr Manohar Prabhu, Jyothi Colaco, Lavina Praphulla DSouza, Rajesh Aranha, Faustino Menezes, Morvine Quadras, Vickey Tanaji and Shalini Alva. Each event was judged by a panel of 3 judges for a fair outcome.

KCWA president, Naveen Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering with a brief message about KCWA talent competitions and encouraged all the participants to give their best. KCWA’s spiritual director Fr Avil Rosario, blessed the organizers, participants and audience. He also inaugurated KCWA Instagram page, 'KCWA Kuwait'. The judges were felicitated, and the winners were awarded by Fr Avil Rosario, president Naveen Mascarenhas and general secretary Reena Pereira.

Merit Scholarships for members’ children who excelled in the academic year 2023 – 2024 were announced by Veena Serrao & Jayson Dsouza with thanks extended to the sponsors Alphonso fly, Lawrence D Souza & fly, Nitin Castelino & fly, Prashanth Ferrao & fly, Jackson and Blossom D’Souza, Prakash Gonsalves & fly and extra curricular awards announced which was sponsored by Harold D’Souza & Fly.

Vote of thanks was presented by event coordinator Kevin Dsouza followed by prize distribution to the Talent Competition winners.

Winners List:

The event was successfully coordinated by Kevin Dsouza, Jinella Rodrigues, Arun Jossy D'Souza, Reena Pereira and Roshan Rodrigues, with strong support from the rest of the Managing Committee and Support Committee members.

KCWA extends its gratitude to the management of ICSK for the school premises, Anand D'Souza of M/s Waves Sounds for providing sounds and lights, Roshan Rodrigues for managing sound tracks of participants and timekeeping, Alban D Souza for projector, photography, videography with YouTube live supported by Ansel Gonsalves, Allan D'Souza for handling complete online registration process, projector display and KCWA Media Live, Phoenix Confectionery - Khaitan for managing the snacks and food counter.

KCWA also wishes to thank the panel of judges who graciously presided over the event, all the support committee members, KCWA members, and most importantly, everyone who participated with their hard work and dedication, making this event a grand success.
