Mangalore: Saturday Night Heist - 20 Sovereigns Gold, Three Lac Rupees

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Dec 19: Unknown thieves, who sneaked into the house of Hanif from Jalal Bagh, Deralakatte, within Ullal police station limits, stole 20 sovereigns of gold ornaments and three lac rupees in cash.

Hanif, a businessman by profession, had locked his house left to attend the marriage function of a relative on Saturday evening. By the time he came back on Sunday afternoon, the house was found to have been burgled. The front door was ajar, and the gold ornaments and cash placed in the showcase in the wall had gone missing. A steel cupboard had been kept in such a way as block view of the showcase.  The fact that the thieves had not tried to break open the cupboard but directly went for the showcase indicates that those who knew the family were behind the theft.

Ullal police inspector, Manjunath Shetty, crime sub-inspector of police, Sham Sundar, finger print experts, and sniffer dogs, visited the spot in an attempt to find evidence. A case was also registered.
