Mangalore, Dec 21: Scores of people who were at the airport on Tuesday December 20 to receive their kith and kin arriving from Dubai by Air India Express flight had a harrowing time, as the flight was delayed by many hours.
The flight was originally scheduled to take off from Dubai at 1.20 am UAE time, but at midnight Air India announced that it would be delayed by four hours. There was no advance notice from Air India staff in Dubai, and many passengers who were already at the airport by then were left in the lurch.
That is not all. An hour or so later, there was another announcement that the flight would take off not after four hours, but at 11.15 am. This angered the passengers, who had to spend the night in the airport thanks to the negligence of the Air India staff.
Finally, the flight took off at 12.15 UAE time and landed at Mangalore at 4.50 pm.
Angry, frustrated passengers also complained about the behaviour of the ground staff of Air India Express at Dubai airport.
Families who had come to receive them also had a tough time, especially those who had come from far away places and had to spend the day at the airport.
Sources said that the reason was that the same flight had been delayed on its take off from Mangalore earlier, and hence was delayed again on its return.
