Kuwait, Dec 15: The Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) distributed Christmas goodies to members' children during an event held on December 13 at the Indian Community School, Senior Branch, Salmiya.
The program reflected the festive spirit of Christmas with activities celebrating peace, love, and joy.
The event commenced with an opening prayer hymn by the Angelic Voices kids' group from Khaitan, trained by Raina D'Mello, who also composed the hymn.
KCWA president Naveen Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering and delivered a Christmas message, followed by a vibrant dance performance by the Sparkling Stars group, choreographed by Rita Pinto.
The Infant Jesus Konkani Kids’ Choir from Salmiya, trained by Aaron D'Souza, Allen Pinto, and Rinna D'Souza, enthralled the audience with melodious Christmas carols.
A tableau depicting the Nativity scene was performed by St Daniel Comboni Konkani Choir kids from Abbasiya, led by Lavina Furtado, Savitha Tauro, Crystal, and Arvin Rodrigues.
KCWA spiritual director Fr Avil Rosario delivered the Christmas message, emphasizing the importance of joy and love brought by Jesus Christ's birth. He interacted with the children about Christmas and extended greetings to the KCWA community.
The membership draw, coordinated by Sylvia D'Costa, was held for all active members of 2025, including honorary, patron, and life members.
Roni D'Sa (membership #2556) emerged as the lucky winner. Christmas hampers were sold during the event to support KCWA's mission. The highest sales were recorded by Prakash Gonsalves, Arun Jossy D'Souza, and Veena Serrao, who were awarded for their efforts. The hampers draw was led by Harry Fernandes and supported by Fr Avil Rosario, President Naveen Mascarenhas, and past presidents Anil Fernandes, Stevan Rego, and Maria Rinna D'Souza.

The event was hosted by Gloria Tauro and Sharvin D'Souza from the MaiBhas Konkani class, alongside emcee Harry Fernandes, who engaged the audience with spot games for children and a housie game.
Excitement peaked with the arrival of Santa Claus, who distributed specially packed goodies to the children.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by coordinator Prakash Gonsalves, who expressed gratitude to the sponsors, including Balaji Snacks, KITCO General Trading, Dencil Moniz of Al Seedawi Food Industries, Clifford D'Souza, Blaze Crasta, and Stevan Rego of Phoenix Confectionary.
The KCWA also thanked photographer Alban D'Souza, Roshan Rodrigues for sound systems, Allan D'Souza for media updates, and Flavors Confectionary for providing snacks and beverages.
The management of the Indian Community School was appreciated for providing the venue.
The program, successfully coordinated by Harry Fernandes, Prakash Gonsalves, Veena Serrao, Arun Jossy D'Souza, Prakash Pinto, and Praveen Fernandes, concluded at 9:00 pm, leaving attendees with the joy and fellowship of Christmas.
