Kasargod: Senior Yakshagana Artiste Mudiyaaru Narayana Rai No More

Kasargod, Dec 23: Senior Yakshagana artiste Mudiyaaru Narayana Rai (72) breathed his last at his residence here following a brief illness.

Being the student of Keerikkadu Master Vishnu Bhat, Rai came into the glare of publicity through Banari Shree Gopalakrishna Yakshagana Kala Sangha and learnt dance from late Kedagady Guddappa Gowda. He served in the field of Yakshagana for over five decades. He was active in Kateel, Kundavu, Subrahmanya Mela.

Various organizations including Kasargod district Buntara Sangha felicitated him for his service. Rai was also a progressive agriculturist, and was active in religious social and cultural fields. He had inspired many upcoming artistes.

He is survived by his wife Bhageerathi, son Divakara, daughters Baby and Vishalakshi.
