Udupi: ‘Paryaya’ Reception Committee Convenes Meeting

Udupi, Dec 29: The ‘Paryaya’ reception committee of Sodhe Vadhiraj Mutt, held a preliminary meeting on Wednesday December 28, to decide on the modalities that are necessary for the smooth progress of the Paryaya.

The reception committee is already in touch with the state tourism department to prominently display the hoardings of the ‘Paryaya Mahotsav’.
As per the decision of the finance committee, various finance institutions, social welfare and voluntary organizations, and donors were approached to mobilize funds for the Paryaya.

The leading nationalized banks – Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank, Karnataka Bank, Corporation Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and Vijaya Bank have contributed Rs 5 lac each, while LIC has contributed Rs 2 lac.  Funds are also being collected from KMF, Axis Bank, Gujarati and Rajastani community members, and other donors.  The fund-raising is underway through enrolment of members for the committee.

The district administration headed by DC Dr Reju has assured special assistance through the efforts of MLA Raghupati Bhat.  Town councilor Kiran Kumar consented to bear the responsibilities of providing temporary toilet facilities, health, cleanliness and hygiene, and garbage disposal.
The head load offering committee held a meeting at the Rejala branch Mutt, Anantashayana Temple in Karkala, Deivajna Brahmana Samaj Mandir in Udupi, Ganesh Kala Mandir in Parkala, Nadyantady branch Mutt, Canara Bank town branch, in Hiriyadka, Amasebail, Barkoor, and Basroor.

The tableau competitions during Paryaya procession, lighting, and photography competitions will be held on the occasion, while many participants have registered their names.
Swami Vishwavallabhateerta of Sodhe Vadiraj Mutt will arrive at Jodukatte on Monday January 2, after completing the journey ahead of the Paryaya. Swami Vishwavallabhateerta will be greeted by citizens led by district-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya and will be taken in a colourful procession from Jodukatte passing through taluk office, Diana Circle, Koladapete, and reach Car Street at 6.00 pm on Monday.  He will offer ‘puja’ to the deities Chandramoulishwar, Ananteshwar, and Sri Krishna and arrive at Sodhe Vadiraj Mutt at 6.30 pm on Monday.

Swami Vishwavallabhateerta will be felicitated by the citizens at the venue, Madhwa Vadiraj Mantap, in front of Pejavar Mutt, town council.
The renowned scholars Dr Nippani Gururaj Acharya, Udyavar Madhav Acharya, minister Dr V S Acharya, MLA Raghupati Bhat and other dignitaries will be present at the occasion.

Vidhwan Praveen Godkindi and troupe will stage a saxophone concert at the same occasion.
The head-load offerings will be held from Jan 3 to January  16 daily from 4.00 pm.  The procession of head-load offerings will be held in the city to reach Car Street, wherein the devotees will be offered prasadams by mutt authorites.

Variety cultural programmes will be held at the stage erected in front of Pejavar mutt from January 3 to January 17.

The reception Committee will hold the felicitation programme of of Swami Vishwavallabateerta by Swami Laxmivarateerta of Shiroor muttat 8.00 pm on January 17.  CM D V Sadanand Gowda, minister Dr V S Acharya and other dignitaries will be present at the occasion.

The colourful display of fireworks will be held in the parking area on January 17 at 10.00 pm, besides cultural programmes by various organizations in different parts of city.

Swami Vishwavallabhateerta will be taken in a rocession of tableaus from Jodukatte at 4.00 pm on January 18, passing through main streets and reach Car Street, where he will offer puja to deities Chandramoulishwar, Ananteshwar and Sri Krishna and ascent into peeta as Astamatadeesha.

CM D V Sadanand Gowda, ministers Dr V S Acharya, Krishna Palemar, Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri, Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, MP Nalin Kumar Katil, MLAs and dignitaries will attend a meeting that will be held at Rajangan after Paryaya Mahotsav.  The judges of HC and SC are likely to be attend.
 
Free food offerings to devotees from January 18 to January 25:

The free food offerings will be offered from January 18 to January 25 nights, while veteran artistes will stage variety cultural shows.
