Udupi: Bangalore Boy Meets Watery Grave at Malpe Beach

Udupi, Dec 31: Among the group of students who had come from Bangalore on tour to Malpe beach, one boy drowned in the sea and breathed his last here on Friday December 30 around 3.00 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Sheik Asif(17), son of Shivajinagar, Bangalore resident Sheik Hussain. Asif was pursuing his education at BBMP College (second PUC).

As a part of College annual tour 128 students along with 3 teachers had come to Malpe after visiting Belur, Dharmasthala and Udupi Sri Krishna temple. When the boys were having a fun shower at the beach the high waves flashed and Asif and another boy named Mohammad Faizal was thrown into the sea, it is said. When the locals managed to swim and catch hold of the two boys and carried them to the hospital nearby, Asif passed away on the way.

Faizal is undergoing treatment at the hospital. A case regarding the incident has been registered at Malpe police station.
