Udupi: Rs 100 Crore Alloted for the Welfare of Minorities

Udupi, Jan 1:"Earlier only a sum of 10crore was allotted for the development and welfare of the minority communities whereas in the present budget,  Rs 100 crore has been consigned to the minorities", said NB Abubakkar, Board president of the Minorities Commission.

He said that the existence of ‘Swa-Udhyoga’(self employment), ‘Ganga Kalyana’ (irrigation) Plan, ‘Shrama Shakthi’ (skill development) plan,  Swavalambi Plan (Self Sustainment) and Bhu Karidhi Yojane has remarkably helped the  Karnataka State Minority Commission(KSMC) and further assistance will also sought, he added.

He  was speaking after inaugurating the seminar for the Minority Group here and explained about the facilities given by the Government for the upliftment of the minorities. The seminar was organized at Shivakripa Kalyana Mantapa on Saturday December 31.

Apart from the financial support for the agricultural activities, education loan at 2 percent interest rate for the higher education for the weavers and handi craft makers, skill development programme the Karnataka state government has given big amount to the development of minorities in the state, he said.

If the minorities are aware, then only they can claim the facilities given to them by the Government otherwise middlemen will make use of those resources at someone’s cost, he advised.

District supervisor of the KMDC Sridhar Bhandary , Haj Samithi member Salim Ambagilu, Anvar among others were present.

Taluk Panchayath member Roshni Oliver welcomed and co-ordinated the event.  The programme was compered by Savitha Rodrigues and Prathap Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. On the occasion, minority group felicitated NB Abubakkar.

    how many crores will reach minority people. may be all the money will be shared by these people by providing fake name and singnature of the poor minority people.
