Karnataka Regional Youth Commission organises 29th ICYM regional council at Mangalore

Mangaluru, Jan 16: The Karnataka regional youth commission organised the 29th ICYM Council at Shanti Kiran, Pastoral Centre, Bajjodi, on January 14. This council brought together youth directors, animators, and diocesan leaders from 10 dioceses of Karnataka.

The council began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Fr Maria Xavier – Mysore diocesan youth director.

The inaugural programme was presided over by Dr Henry D’Souza, chairman bishop of the KRCBC youth commission, and the chief guest was Fr Santhosh Rodrigues, director of the pastoral centre, Mangalore. Fr Lourd Raj (regional youth director), Fr Ashwin Cardoza (ICYM director of Mangalore diocese), Sr Molly Illickal (regional youth lady animator), Vileena Gonsalves (regional youth president), and Winston Sequeira (ICYM Mangalore diocesan president) were present on the dais. Winston Sequeira welcomed the gathering, and Steena D’Souza compered the programme.

Nevin Anthony and Ashley D’Souza were honored on behalf of ICYM Karnataka for being awarded the Young Achievers Award.

Lijo Jacob, joint secretary of ICYM Karnataka, presented the minutes of the last meeting.

Ashley D’Souza presented the regional activity report.

The council was presided over by Vileena Gonsalves, regional youth president, and Ebin Samuel, REXCO Karnataka Region.

The diocesan presidents presented their diocesan activity reports, enabling other dioceses to understand their strengths and learn from each other. After the report presentations, other dioceses had an opportunity to ask questions and learn about their initiatives.

The council then engaged in major discussions on the growth of the movement, rules and regulations, KRYC convention information, civil services, digitalization, and various other concerns. Each diocese and the regional team shared their opinions.

On behalf of the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission, the 75th birthday of Dr Henry D’Souza was celebrated by cutting a cake.

The programme concluded with the National ICYM Anthem and a group photo. Diocesan leaders, the regional team of ICYM, and YCS/YSM members were present for the council.
