Kundapur: IMJ Institution organises Young Leader Award 2025 competition

Kundapur, Jan 16: To mark National Youth Day, celebrated on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the IMJ Institution, Moodlakatte, organized the IMJ Young Leader Award 2025 competition.

The event aims to foster leadership skills among students and create awareness about the importance of youth leadership in today’s competitive world.

Ramangowda B Patil from Haveri, social activist, in his inaugural note, emphasized the qualities of a true leader. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “A true leader is someone who encourages and uplifts others. Gain a good education, bring honour to your parents and teachers, and engage in socially meaningful work.”

Chief guest Vighneshwar Bhat, principal of Karnataka Public School, Bidkal Katte, Kundapur, motivated students, stating, “To become a great leader, you need a clear vision, guidance from a mentor, determination, and relentless effort.”

Dr Ramakrishna Hegde, director of Brand Building at IMJ Institution, provided an overview of the event's purpose. Professor Karthikeyan, head of the data science department at Moodlakatte Engineering College, outlined the institution's framework.

The event was compered by MBA student Sahar Shetty. The welcome address was delivered by Mehwish Khan, a first-year engineering student, and the vote of thanks was proposed by MBA student Prateek Shetty.

The ceremony was attended by participants from various colleges, faculty members, and parents.

The prize distribution ceremony of the IMJ Young Leader Award 2025, held on the occasion of National Youth Day, took place at the IMJ Institution, Moodlakatte.

The chief guest, Maruti, deputy director of the Udupi District pre-university education department, congratulated students and the college administration for organizing such a meaningful competition. He remarked, “Instilling leadership qualities in students is crucial in today’s era.”

The competition included several rounds, culminating in a live question-and-answer session for the top six finalists. Divya from MGM PU College, Udupi, was declared the winner of the IMJ Young Leader Award 2025, receiving a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

The first runner-up, Bhoomika from Kota Viveka College, was awarded Rs 5,000, while the second runner-up, Sumedh from MGM College, received Rs 2,000. Consolation prizes were given to Nisha from Mother Teresa College, Deepika and Inchara from Bhandarkar College.

The judges for the final round included renowned host Akshay Hegde Molahalli, Dr Pratibha Patil, and Professor Amrutamaal, who played a vital role in evaluating the participants.

The event was compered by first-year engineering student Likhita. The welcome address was delivered by Apeksha, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Pinky Aithal.

Prominent dignitaries present at the event included director of Brand Building, IMJ Institution Dr Ramakrishna Hegde, principal, Moodlakatte Technical University Dr Abdul Kareem, principal, Moodlakatte Nursing College Jennifer Fred Menezes, and principal, IMJ Institution science and commerce division Dr Pratibha Patil, and admissions officer Kiran Shetty.
