M'lore: 'Inter Disciplinary Approach Towards Women’s Health' CME Held at AJ Hospital

Mangalore, Jan 9: Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy conducted a state level one day CME (Continued Medical Education) on “An Inter Disciplinary Approach Towards Women’s Health” on Friday January 6 at AJ Hospital and Research Centre conference hall, here.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Latha Sharma, HOD of department of OBG, AJ Institute  of Medical Sciences, as the chief guest. Dr Ramesh Pai, dean, AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, was the guest of honour. 

Dr S Arul Dhanaraj, principal of Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guests and the speakers to the delegates from various physiotherapy and nursing colleges in and around Mangalore. Dr Ramesh Pai delivered the key note address on the topic followed by special address by the chief guest Dr Latha Sharma. Both the guests emphasized on the need and role of Physiotherapy and other specialties in women’s health.

Topics like stress urinary incontinence by Dr Manjunath Kamath, chronic pelvic pain by Dr Visalakshi, pre and post natal period physiological changes by Dr Divya Hegde, role of physiotherapy in pre and post natal period by Vimala Sudha Devi, an overview of obstetric emergencies by Dr Sudhesh Rao, role of OBG nurse by Sandhya, role of physiotherapy in stress urinary incontinence by Hima Vivekanandan and importance of nutrition for women by Prasad were discussed.

Dr Abilash, PRO of Laxmi Memorial educational trust, Dr Saravanahari Ganesh, the program co-ordinator, and the faculties of department of OBG, physiotherapy and nursing colleges were present.

The program was attended by more than 120 delegates  including under graduates, post graduates and staffs from various physiotherapy and nursing colleges in and around Mangalore and had enlightening presentations by eminent speakers on the role and need  for  different specialties in enhancing women’s health.
