Bengaluru, Feb 5: Recently, the number of accidents has been rising due to excessive speed and increased vehicles on the roads. In response, traffic police have been implementing stricter measures to curb violations. However, many continue to ignore these rules, leading to hefty fines.

One such case recently went viral when a scooterist was fined over Rs 1.6 lac, an amount greater than the cost of his vehicle. The incident has sparked widespread attention on social media.

The scooterist, who had been flouting traffic rules for the past three years, was finally caught by the City Market police on February 3. Upon investigation, 311 traffic violations were discovered on his scooter.

Normally, a new scooter or bike may cost between Rs 80,000 and Rs 1 lac, but in this case, the fine imposed on the vehicle exceeded Rs 1 lac. The biker, identified as Sudeep, was issued a notice and asked to pay the Rs 1.61 lac fine for the 311 violations.

The traffic police have used this case as an example to raise awareness about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.
