Mumbai, Feb 6: Two staff members at Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s residence have identified Bangladeshi national Shariful Fakir as the assailant who attacked the actor last month, a police official confirmed on Thursday.

Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30), also known as Vijay Das, was arrested last month for allegedly stabbing Khan and is currently in judicial custody.

According to police sources, the Mumbai Police conducted an Identification Parade at Arthur Road Jail on Wednesday as part of the investigation.
During the parade, Eliyamma Phillip (56), a staff member at Khan’s residence, and househelp Junu identified Shariful as the attacker. Phillip is considered a key witness in the case, as she was also allegedly assaulted by the accused, officials stated.

Last month, Mumbai Police confirmed that a facial recognition test matched the arrested Bangladeshi man’s face with the individual seen in CCTV footage from the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, where the actor resides.

As per the police, Shariful allegedly broke into Khan’s 12th-floor apartment in the early hours of January 16 and stabbed him six times before fleeing the scene. He was arrested three days later from neighboring Thane city.
