Udupi: Inna Villagers Stop UPCL Power From Laying Transmission Cables

Udupi, Jan 10: Locals residing in Inna gram panchayat, near here, stalled the work of laying high tension transmission cables to Hassan from Nandikoor by Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) power plant on Saturday January 7.

The locals stalled the works of in the farmland of Laxmi Shetty and Krishna Shetty in Inna village, demanding compensation.

The villagers sought the overseer of works to come to the spot and when he did not turn up, they let out the air from the tires of tractors and sent back the labourers.

Inna gram panchayat vice-president Shankar Amin, former presidents John Mendonca and Jaya S Kotian, Prashant Shetty of Raita Sangh, Karkala block Congress vice-president Rocky D’Silva, former state ministers Amarnat Shetty, Prabhakar Inna, and M P Moideen were present on the occasion.
