Mangaluru, Feb 9: The Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) team at Wenlock Hospital, led by Dr Suresh Pai, has once again demonstrated exceptional medical expertise by successfully removing a massive foreign body from a 12-year-old boy’s chest.
The boy, a migrant from Assam working in Madikeri, suffered a severe injury after a fall at around 7.30 pm on February 8. A wooden piece had pierced his neck and lodged in his chest. He was brought to Wenlock Hospital at about 12.15 am following the trauma.

The life-saving surgery was performed between 1.30 am and 3.30 am on Sunday, February 9. During the procedure, the team removed the huge wooden piece along with a broken steel chain. The boy is now recovering well after the surgery.
The district surgeon and superintendent of Wenlock District Hospital has praised the remarkable efforts of the CTVS team, along with the OT staff and anesthesia team, for their dedication in saving the young boy’s life.
