Kundapur, Jan 10: Disciples of Dr K J Jesudas offered musical tribute to their mentor, on his 72nd birthday at Kollur Goddess Mookambika Temple on Tuesday January 9. The disciples were led by Kanhangad Ramachandran.

Musical legend, Dr Jesudas, has been celebrating his birthday every year in the presence of Goddess Mookambika, since the last some years. He arrived at the temple along with wife, Prabha, son, Vijay Jesudas, who also is a playback singer, and other family members. At around 5 am on Tuesday, melodious devotional music permeated through Saraswati Mantapa of the temple. The team comprised well-known musicians from Kerala.

Several fans of the celebrated artiste had arrived in Kollur on Tuesday to get their children initiated into education through their icon. He obliged them by holding the hands of the children, and making them to write ‘Om’ in rice.  Jesudas said he gets a feeling of being in the company of his mother whenever he comes to Kollur. The singer, who has completed 50 years of illustrious service to the field of cinema music, expressed happiness at the love and respect he enjoys from the people of the region. He felt that a healthy society can be created with the power of music.

Temple executive officer, Sanjeeva Madiwala, superintendent, Ramakrishna Adiga, and other priests together felicitated Jesudas on the occasion. He also performed Chandika Homa on the occasion along with wife, Prabha, and other family members.
