Udupi: GSB Forum Demands Making Konkani Academy Full-fledged

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jan 12: President of Udupi District Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Community Welfare Forum, Dr B Damodar Pai, has noted that Karnataka State Konkani Sahitya Academy has become dormant because of not appointing members to it. While noting that a proactive personality in the form of Kasargod Chinna had been appointed president of the academy on September 12, 2011 itself, he lamented that no further initiatives were taken by the government to make the academy vibrant.

He has urged the state Chief Minister and minister for Kannada and culture, to appoint members to the academy immediately to make it effective.

“It has been several months since a list of 60 personalities was submitted to the department of Kannada and culture, with a request to pick members for the above academy at the earliest. However, the department has overlooked our request. The state government, which has made the academies in the coast financially strong, should enable the vibrant president of Konkani academy to make his dream projects to come true, by making the academy full-fledged,” he requested.

    Praise be upon the Lord

I have heard the name Kasargod Chinna and the term prominent personality being used very generously here, pray can someone tell me what this worthy prominent personality has done to date to deserve such copious praise?
