Udupi: Talent Contest ‘Vidhyuttan-2012’ Held

Udupi, Jan 14: “Students should be passionate about art and culture which will sustain the progress of our nation,” said Professor Ashwattamani, principal, Ajjarkad Women’s College.

Prof Ashwattamani was speaking after inaugurating ‘Vidhyuttan–2012’, a talent contest held under the aegis of Vidhyaniketan College, Kaup, on Friday January 13.

“Cultural significance cannot be measured in terms of wealth or possession and palatial houses.  The hunger to enrich art and culture that has been sustained over generations and centuries will be carried forward by the new generations who are our national wealth,” added the professor.

Prof Ashwattamani urged the new generation to preserve the age old religious practices and the splendor of folklore. Over 300 students from 15 colleges participated in ‘Vidhyuttan–2012’, the occasion.
Vidhyaniketan Group of Education Institutions correspondent K P Acharya presided over the programme.

Vidhyaniketan College principal Professor Krishna Rao, high school headmaster Vidhyadar Puranik, nursing dschool principal Joe Joe, primary school head teacher Ophelia Coutinho, alumnus Sharat Kumar, and NSS chief Preeti were also present. Professor V K Udyavar welcomed the gathering.  Dora Noronha proposed the vote of thanks.  Students Shifana and Sabreena compered the programme.
