Belagavi, Feb 24: Karnataka women and child welfare minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar has assured that the long-awaited funds for the ‘Griha Lakshmi’ scheme will be released within the next 8 days, amid mounting pressure and accusations from members of the Opposition.
Speaking to the media in Belagavi, Hebbalkar dismissed BJP’s allegations, saying, "Let them spread false propaganda. We have already committed to releasing the Griha Lakshmi funds. The delay was due to the requirement of distributing them through Taluk Panchayats, but rest assured, the funds will be released in the next 8 days."
She added, “Two days have already passed. The money will be disbursed within the promised timeline."

Minister vows action over bus conductor assault
Hebbalkar also reacted strongly to the assault on a bus conductor in Belagavi, condemning the attack and vowing swift action. "I condemn the incident in the strongest terms. Within five minutes of the attack, I spoke to the Commissioner, instructing immediate action against the culprits," she said.
She further criticised attempts to create political controversy over the issue, stating, "A few troublemakers are trying to stir up a language dispute for political gain, and I completely condemn this."
Hebbalkar emphasised that assaulting a government employee is a serious crime, and promised that the perpetrators would face severe punishment. “We will not tolerate any threats to our state’s drivers. The local CPI has failed in their duty, and I have instructed them to take immediate action,” she stated. Hebbalkar also confirmed she would be discussing the issue with the home minister and the Director General of Police.
