Mangaluru, Feb 25: Manipal School, in association with Sportz Village, hosted 'Kidathon 2025 - Unleash your inner superhero' at Marena Sports Ground in Attavar on February 22. In a remarkable display of commitment to a healthier lifestyle, the event saw an enthusiastic participation of over 100 children from across the city, all geared up to embrace their superhero spirit.
Recognizing the importance of resilience, courage, and physical well-being, Manipal School embraced the theme ‘Unleash Your Inner Superhero’ for Kidathon 2025. The event aimed to inspire children to channel their inner strength, stay active, and develop a spirit of determination. Kidathon highlighted the idea that every child has the power to be a superhero not just in play, but in their daily actions and choices.
Kidathon officially commenced with a prayer led by the junior school students of Manipal school which was followed by a warm welcome from the headmistress, Sapna Shetty. Principal Srilatha Alva and vice principal Shilpa Moger also graced the occasion, encouraging the young participants and celebrating their enthusiasm.
The chief guest of the event, Ishaan Pilar, an esteemed alumnus of Manipal School, a distinguished engineer, filmmaker, and founder of Simufleet, brought an inspiring presence to the occasion. In his address, he emphasized the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle, highlighting the need for regular physical activity and a balanced diet. He encouraged the young participants to make fitness a daily habit, reinforcing that a strong body contributes to a strong mind. Reflecting on his own journey, he fondly recalled his school days, sharing how Manipal School played a pivotal role in shaping his values and laying the foundation for his successful career. To mark the symbolic beginning of the event, he, along with the school dignitaries and all the little superheroes, released balloons into the sky an uplifting gesture representing limitless potential and the spirit of reaching new heights.
A dynamic warm-up session, led by an energetic fitness instructor from Sportz Village, prepared the participants for their superhero adventure. The much-awaited walkathon was flagged off by the chief guest, with children eagerly setting off on their journey. Though it was intended as a walkathon, the excitement took over as many children sprinted ahead with enthusiasm and determination. The participants, divided into two age categories 3 to 5 years and 6 to 8 years showcased incredible spirit and perseverance. Each young superhero gave their best, crossing the finish line with smiles of accomplishment.
As soon as they completed the walkathon, every participant was awarded a finisher medal, celebrating their effort and determination while highlighting the inclusive and festive spirit of Kidathon. After the event, a short refreshment break allowed the children to recharge, followed by a vibrant cheer dance performance by grade 5 students of Manipal School. Additionally, a lively face painting station added to the celebratory atmosphere, making the event even more enjoyable.
Winners in both age categories were recognised with participants securing 1st and 2nd places.
In the 1st category, the winners were:
1- Falisha Faisal, 2- Muhammad Ilhan
In the 2nd category, the winners were:
1- Mohammed Aaz, 2- Alhan Fahad Muhammad.
Each winner was honoured with a trophy, presented by the chief guest Ishaan, vice principal, Shilpa Moger and headmistress Sapna Shetty. Additionally, a special prize for best costume was awarded to Zauq Abdul Jabbar, who impressed everyone with his Thor-inspired outfit, truly embodying the spirit of a superhero.
A special moment was dedicated to parent reflection, where Priya Nayak, mother of Jeevika Nayak (grade 3) and Bhuvika Nayak (prep 1), shared her thoughts on the event. She spoke about the excitement and enthusiasm it brought to the children, encouraging them to embrace challenges with confidence and energy. She also expressed her appreciation for Manipal School’s efforts in organizing such initiatives that promote physical activity and overall growth. Her words reflected the joy and positive impact the event had on both children and parents alike.
As a token of appreciation, a special memento was presented to the chief guest an exquisite artwork created by the school's art teacher, Deepesh Raj. The piece, inspired by traditional Rajasthani Pichwai art, beautifully symbolized creativity and cultural heritage, making it a meaningful gesture of gratitude. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Tr Asha Rani, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizers, volunteers, and school staff in making the event a grand success. The event was compered by Tr Meghana Vasani and Tr Naina, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all.
As the National Anthem echoed through the venue, Kidathon 2025 at Manipal School, Mangaluru, concluded on an inspiring note. The event not only promoted fitness and fun but also encouraged perseverance, kindness, and bravery true qualities of a superhero.
