Mangaluru, Mar 1: St Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous), a premiere institution in teacher education celebrated its eventful Annual day with great pomp and gaiety. The chief guest Dr Edmond Fernades, founder and CEO of CHD group, Maria Smitha AC, joint secretary St Ann’s Institutions, Dr Sr Dorothy D’Souza AC, principal, St Ann’s College of Education, Sr Zeena Periera AC vice-principal, members of the management, faculty, alumni, parents of BEd and MEd students were present on the momentous event.
The programme began by invoking the peaceful presence of gracious God. A group of students led the audience to the humble tranquillity of the Almighty’s grace through an invocation. Dr Sr Dorothy D’Souza AC, principal, welcomed the august gathering and introduced the chief guest. Dr Sr Dororthy D’Souza AC and Prof Dr Flosy D’Souza presented an annual report highlighting the academic endeavours of faculty and the diverse range of activities conducted in the year.
The chief guest Dr Edmond Fernandes, spoke in his address about the transition in the field of education due to technology in reference to AI and robotics and its impact on student-teacher relationships. His insightful message on the occasion enhanced the vibrant atmosphere. Academic achievers were awarded.
The best outstanding BEd student-teacher of the year to Swasthi R Rai, most deserving student teacher to Sumitha, hardworking student teacher of the year in arts to Shivani Babasaheb Ghasthi, outstanding student-teacher in mathematics was awarded to Yashaswini M Luminaries of the occasion bestowed the prizes to the victorious students who displayed excellence in ‘Talent Synergy’ 2024 a synergism of co-scholastic activities.
The cultural programme was a mesmerised blend of talent and creativity. An Indian folklore – Samskrithi Sangam, a symphony of traditions and a kaleidoscope of heritage, Harmony fusion – Song Medley, curated a delightful medley of melodies to take the audience on a rhythmic journey and Pancha Tatva Tarang – Dance drama on five elements a journey from harmony to crisis witnessed breath-taking fusion of rhythm, expression and storytelling through movement and music was performed by BEd student-teachers. Nishmitha Sunitha D’Souza compered the event with grace and Swasthi R Rai, student president proposed the vote of thanks.
Vilma D’Souza, assistant professor was the convener of the programme. The resounding success of the college day exemplified the spirit of cooperation and the diligent efforts of the management, principal, staff and students.
