Ramallah, Mar 5: Israeli forces have killed senior Hamas commander Aysar al-Saadi and another Palestinian in a large-scale military operation in the eastern neighbourhood of Jenin, West Bank.

According to Palestinian sources, Israeli troops, backed by heavy reinforcements, surrounded residential buildings, triggering intense clashes that led to the deaths. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said al-Saadi was responsible for planning attacks on Israeli targets.

As part of the extended ‘Operation Iron Wall,’ IDF introduced ‘Eitan’ armored carriers for the first time in Jenin. During the raid, three Palestinians were arrested, and weapons were seized from the site.

Meanwhile, Hamas condemned the killing, accusing Israel of using ‘assassinations’ against resistance. The Palestinian health ministry identified the other deceased as Jihad Alawneh, 25, who succumbed to bullet wounds.

The military offensive has left widespread destruction, with power lines cut and families displaced. According to UNRWA, over 40,100 Palestinians have fled since the operation began. The IDF claims to have killed over 75 Palestinian operatives and detained around 450 people.
