Mangaluru: CCB arrests absconding associate of gangster Kali Yogish, seizes MDMA worth Rs 5 lac

Mangaluru, Mar 17: The Mangaluru CCB police have arrested an associate of gangster Kali Yogish, who had been absconding for nearly nine years. The police also seized 53 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 5 lac, from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the CCB police apprehended the accused while he was allegedly selling drugs in the Nanthoor area of Mangaluru after bringing them from Kasargod.

The arrested has been identified as Abdul Aseer alias Saddu alias Saadu alias Maya (32), son of Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of Nangi House, Nangi Kadappuram, Mogral post, Kasargod district, Kerala.

He is known to be an associate of gangster Kali Yogish, who is currently hiding abroad. Abdul Aseer was previously involved in multiple cases, including the shootout at Rajdhani Jewellers in Puttur. After securing bail in that case, he went absconding and failed to appear for court proceedings.

Several cases have been registered against him, including the murder of Shafiq at Kumble police station, a POCSO case, theft, and a vehicle arson case at Kasargod town police station. He currently has a warrant pending against him.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of police commissioner Anupam Agrawal IPS, with the supervision of deputy commissioners of police Siddharth Goyal IPS (law and order) and K Ravishankar KSPS (crime and traffic). The team was led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, along with police inspectors Rafiq K M, PSIs Sharanappa Bhandari, Sudeep M V, Narendra, and ASIs Mohan K V, Ram Poojary, Sheenappa, Sujan Shetty, and other CCB personnel.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
