Mangaluru, Mar 19: Students of the MA journalism and mass communication programme at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre organised a workshop and talk on the importance of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for the students at Padua College of Commerce and Management on March 18.
The session, titled ‘Every beat matters’, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who gained valuable life-saving skills under the expert guidance of medical professionals. The workshop was led by Dr Rohan S Monis, chief administrative officer, alongside Dr Mohammad Afsal and Dr Afeefa Hakeem, residents from the department of emergency medicine at Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre, Mangaluru. Their detailed explanations and hands-on demonstrations provided students with essential knowledge on how to correctly administer CPR in emergency situations.



Speaking about the impact of the event, Dr Rohan S Monis emphasized, “Timely CPR can be the difference between life and death. It is heartening to see young students take an active interest in learning this critical skill.”
Vice principal Prof Roshan Santhumayur also spoke a few words to encourage the students of the college, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in empowering young individuals with life-saving skills.
Students actively engaged in the interactive session, with many expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to practice CPR techniques firsthand. The session also included a Q&A segment, where attendees clarified their doubts regarding emergency response measures.
