Bengaluru, Mar 19: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, Sunil Ambekar, stated on Wednesday that Mughal ruler Aurangzeb holds no relevance in contemporary times. His remarks came during a press conference ahead of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, scheduled to take place from March 21 to 23.
When asked about the recent violence in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Ambekar condemned all forms of unrest, emphasizing that violence is detrimental to society. He affirmed that the police had taken cognizance of the incident and were handling the situation accordingly.

Responding to a query on whether Aurangzeb’s tomb should be relocated, Ambekar dismissed the significance of the topic, stating, “I think not relevant.” His comments gain importance amid growing demands from Hindutva groups in Maharashtra for the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb and the unrest associated with the issue.
Addressing criticism from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who accused the RSS of inciting violence, Ambekar rejected the claims. He asserted that the RSS has always been dedicated to nation-building in a peaceful manner. “Our organization has been working for the betterment of the country since its inception. Our commitment remains unchanged,” he said.
Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on March 30, Ambekar clarified that such visits were not unprecedented, recalling that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also visited the headquarters in the past.
Discussing the agenda for the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, Ambekar outlined key topics for deliberation. The meeting will focus on five major transformations, and two resolutions will be adopted—one addressing concerns about the treatment of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh, and the other reflecting on the RSS’s 100-year journey and future roadmap.
Speaking on the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh, Ambekar stressed that the RSS has consistently condemned atrocities against the community. “We have actively participated in protests and will continue advocating for the security, dignity, and rights of Hindus worldwide. The upcoming discussions will focus on further action in this regard,” he added.
As the RSS approaches its centenary milestone, the meeting will also review the organization's contributions across various domains, including social, political, and national security initiatives. “Swayamsevaks have played a key role in shaping the country’s progress. Now, the focus will be on the future direction of the RSS,” Ambekar said.
The Pratinidhi Sabha, set to take place in Channenahalli, Bengaluru, is a crucial gathering where the highest policy decisions of the RSS will be formulated. The event will include a comprehensive review of past activities and discussions on strategic initiatives for the future.
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, and other senior leaders will participate in the deliberations. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J.P. Nadda are also expected to attend.
Dattatreya Hosabale will present the 2024-25 report at the meeting, which marks a significant moment in the RSS’s history as it completes 100 years this Vijayadashami. After a four-year gap, the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha returns to Bengaluru, underlining its importance in shaping the organization's future trajectory.
