Rewa, Mar 23: In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old man from Mehra village in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district livestreamed his suicide on social media, leading to the arrest of his wife and mother-in-law for alleged abetment.

The tragic event unfolded on March 16 when the man, identified as a priest who had returned home due to an injury, was found hanging at his residence. In his final video, he accused his wife and mother-in-law of ruining his life.

Following an investigation, police traced one of the viewers of the livestream to the deceased’s wife. However, she denied watching it live, claiming she saw it after his death.

Sirmour police, who initially registered a case of unnatural death, later arrested the man's wife and mother-in-law under charges of abetment to suicide.

Reports indicate that the couple, who had a six-month-old child, frequently argued. On the day of the incident, the man had visited his mother-in-law’s house to bring his wife back, but an argument ensued, and he returned alone. Shortly after, he ended his life while broadcasting the act online.

The case has sparked concerns over mental health and the impact of social media in distressing situations. Authorities continue their probe into the matter.
