New Delhi, Mar 24: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a General Manager of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and three others in connection with a bribery case involving Rs 15 lakh, an official reported on Monday.
The NHAI official and other accused were detained after receiving the bribe in Patna for extending unfair favours in processing and approving bills related to NHAI contracts. In addition to the arrests, the CBI also seized illegal assets worth Rs 1.18 crore during searches conducted across multiple locations.

The searches targeted the residential and office premises of the accused in cities such as Patna, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Purnia, Ranchi, and Varanasi. The operation uncovered cash, incriminating documents, and digital devices.
The CBI registered a case on March 22, 2025, implicating 12 individuals, including six senior NHAI officials and representatives of a private company involved in the fraudulent dealings. The accused public servants had allegedly conspired with the company’s representatives to approve bills in exchange for bribes.
On the day of the bribe exchange, a private company representative met the NHAI official at a designated location in Patna. Acting on a tip-off, the CBI conducted a successful sting operation and caught the individuals red-handed, leading to their immediate arrest.
The investigation is ongoing, with the CBI working to uncover further details of the bribery network.
