Kannada Kala Kendra Mumbai celebrates World Theatre Day, releases ‘Rangatuppe’

Mumbai, Mar 29: Kannada Kala Kendra Mumbai, regarded as a mother institution for theatre in the city, celebrated World Theatre Day on Saturday evening at Nityananda Sabhagraha, Sion East.

The event, presided over by Kannada Kala Kendra President Madhusudhan T.R., featured the release of ‘Rangatuppe’, a collection of four Tulu one-act plays authored by renowned theatre artiste Narayana Shetty Nandalike of Journey Theatre Group. The book was launched by Shyam N Shetty, vice president of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of Maharashtra and former president of the Bombay Bunts Association. Chief priest Srinivas N Udupa of Sri Uma Maheshwari Temple, Jerimeri, blessed the occasion, while ‘Akshaya’ magazine editor Harish Hejmadi introduced the book to the audience.

As part of the celebration, a special interactive session titled ‘My Theatre Experience’ was held, where veteran theatre artistes Manohar Shetty Nandalike, Tara Bangera, Ravi S Shetty, G K Kenchanakere, and Bhaskar Suvarna Sasihitlu shared their decades of experience in theatre. The session was moderated by honorary secretary Ramesh Birthi.

The event began with a prayer by Vasu J Moli, followed by a welcome address by Ramesh Birthi. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and a seamless presentation by the host, Sadaya.
