Bengaluru, Apr 2: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday called upon the state police to harness technology for combating cybercrime, emphasizing that law and order play a crucial role in attracting investments and fostering development.

Speaking at the Police Flag Day celebrations at Koramangala Parade Ground, he underlined the link between peace, stability, and employment generation. Highlighting his government's commitment to law enforcement, he announced the long-pending Chief Minister’s Medals had been awarded in one go this year.

Reaffirming his mission for a drug-free Karnataka, Siddaramaiah urged the police to take a pledge to dismantle drug networks. He noted that crime rates had declined over the past two years and stressed the need to sustain this trend.

The Chief Minister also lauded the state’s police force, stating that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German representatives had praised their professionalism and efficiency. "This is a matter of great pride," he remarked.

He assured full government support for police welfare while warning against negligence in duty. "The police beat system must be implemented more effectively, and hooliganism and rowdyism must be completely eradicated," he asserted.

State home minister G Parameshwara, DGP Alok Mohan, and other senior officials were present at the event.
