BEL secures Rs 593 cr IAF contract, reports strong growth in FY 2024-25

Bengaluru, Apr 2: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna defence PSU, has signed a Rs 593.22 cr contract with the Indian Air Force for the maintenance of the Akash missile system, marking a strong start to the new financial year 2025-26. BEL had earlier supplied the missile system to the IAF and has now secured the crucial maintenance deal. The company has also concluded negotiations for additional orders worth Rs 5,000 cr, further strengthening its order book.

BEL has recorded a turnover of approximately Rs 23,000 cr in FY 2024-25, registering a 16% growth from Rs 19,820 cr in the previous year. Export sales stood at $106 million, reflecting a 14% rise from $92.98 million in the last fiscal year. The company secured fresh orders worth Rs 18,715 cr during the year, including major projects such as BMP II Upgrade, Ashwini Radar, Software Defined Radios, Data Link, Multi-Function Radars, Anti-Drone Systems, and Sonar Upgradation. With this, BEL’s total order book as of April 1, stands at Rs 71,650 cr, including an export order book of $359 million.

BEL chairman & managing director Manoj Jain emphasized the company’s commitment to self-reliance through enhanced indigenisation, outsourcing to MSMEs & startups, and expanding its global footprint. He stated that BEL is focused on strengthening its international presence while maintaining leadership in the strategic electronics sector.

The company has reported a 47.3% increase in net profit for Q3 FY 2024-25, reaching Rs 1,316.06 cr compared to Rs 893.30 cr in the same period last year. Consolidated revenue from operations also saw a significant rise of 38.6%, climbing to Rs 5,770.69 cr from Rs 4,162.16 cr. With a strong order pipeline and strategic growth initiatives, BEL continues to reinforce its position as a key player in India’s defence and electronics sector.
