Udupi, May 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers in Udupi district celebrated the party’s performance in the West Bengal elections with enthusiasm on Monday, May 4. The celebrations were marked by the bursting of crackers, distribution of sweets, and the raising of victory slogans.
Addressing the gathering, Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna said that the election results had sent a strong message to infiltrators and opposition parties. He alleged that the opposition had resisted key legislations such as the Women’s Reservation Bill and stated that voters had responded decisively through the ballot. Criticising the Congress, he remarked that corruption and Congress were synonymous and accused the party of misleading people with guarantee schemes. He further alleged that the state government had failed to respond effectively to a fire tragedy in Udupi while extending relief in other regions like Wayanad.

Udupi district BJP president Kutiyaru Naveen Shetty termed the victory as a 'triumph of dharma' and said the West Bengal results would serve as a direction for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections. He called upon party workers to remain committed and work towards forming a strong BJP-led government in the state by 2028–29.
Uday Kumar Shetty, convener of the Mangaluru region, described the victory as an end to 'anarchy' in West Bengal and said the BJP functioned like a family. He also made allegations against the Congress, accusing it of electoral malpractice and lawlessness.
The celebration witnessed the participation of several BJP leaders and workers, including district general secretary Srikanth Naik, secretary Shivakumar Ambalpady, former CMC president Prabhakar Poojary, former councillor Vijay Kodavoor, and others.
