Mangalore, Jan 18: Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy is conducting the 17th state-level ‘Dr M V Shetty Inter Physiotherapy Colleges Cricket Tournament for Boys and Girls’ at NMPT ground, Panambur, on Tuesday January 17 and Wednesday January 18.

Karnataka coast guard Commander DIG R M Sharma inaugurated the tournament on Tuesday morning.
Commander Sharma, in his inaugural address, stressed the need to give equal importance to academics and sports.

Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust founder secretary Dr M Ramgopal Shetty presided over the programme.
National women’s swimming team physiotherapist and Dr M V Shetty College girls’ team former captain Dr Poornima Raman was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raman said that the passion in one’s life helps an individual be successful in their chosen profession.

Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy physical director Manohar M proposed the vote of thanks.
Ten boys’ teams and seven girls’ teams from across the state are participating in the tournament.
The inaugural match was played between DIG Sharma and Dr Shetty, both trying their hand at batting and bowling.  This was followed by a match between Captains XI vs Staff XI of the participating colleges.
