New Delhi, Apr 19: On the occasion of World Liver Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a heartfelt appeal to citizens across the nation to embrace mindful eating habits and lead healthier lives. Emphasizing the power of small yet meaningful changes, he spotlighted the significant impact of reducing oil consumption in everyday diets.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi responded to a message from Union Health Minister JP Nadda, applauding the initiative to promote liver health and combat obesity. “Commendable effort to mark #WorldLiverDay with a call for mindful eating and healthier living. Small steps like reducing oil intake can make a big difference. Together, let’s build a fitter, healthier India by raising awareness about obesity,” he wrote.

Health Minister JP Nadda, in his message, encouraged citizens to commit to reducing their edible oil consumption by at least 10%, urging everyone to view food as a powerful tool for healing. “Small changes can lead to big results when we treat food as medicine,” he stated.
Nadda also echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, stressing the importance of collective action in addressing the growing issue of obesity. “In response to the call by PM Modi, let us also pledge to raise awareness about obesity and its growing impact on our society. Together, let’s work towards a future where healthier living is the norm, starting with the food we eat,” he urged.
The liver, a resilient organ capable of regenerating itself, can recover from years of damage through conscious lifestyle modifications. A balanced diet — rich in fresh fruits, leafy greens, whole grains, and lean proteins — not only prevents liver disease but also supports its restoration.
Continuing his long-standing campaign against lifestyle-related diseases, PM Modi reiterated the critical need for health-conscious living. He emphasized that personal fitness plays a crucial role in building a "Viksit Bharat" — a developed India.
“Let’s take a pledge,” the Prime Minister said. “Let’s all reduce our cooking oil usage by 10%. It’s a small step with a big impact — a decisive move to fight obesity and liver diseases.”
Framing mindful eating not just as an individual choice but a national responsibility, PM Modi called on every citizen to take charge of their health and contribute to a more vibrant, healthy India.
