Kolkata, Apr 21: Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Monday delivered a scathing critique of the West Bengal government, asserting that the state's constitutional framework is disintegrating under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's leadership.
Addressing the ‘Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Sanman Sabha’ in Bhabanipur, South Kolkata, Thakur stated, "West Bengal, once celebrated for its profound cultural legacy, is now burdened by communal violence and oppression. The entire constitutional structure in West Bengal has begun to collapse under the Trinamool Congress."
He further alleged that women, socially disadvantaged communities, laborers, and Hindus are facing systemic oppression, describing the situation as "utterly shameful."

"The esteemed Indian Constitution, meticulously crafted by Bhimrao Ambedkar, is being trampled upon in West Bengal," he declared.
Thakur indirectly referenced the recent Murshidabad violence, accusing the Chief Minister of becoming the "Didi (elder sister)" to rioters.
"Even the West Bengal police fail to act against rioters who openly engage in oppression. These rioters hurl stones at Ram Navami processions. It has become challenging for Hindus to practice their religious rituals in an Indian state. This would be impossible without the state government's patronage," he asserted.
He called for the ousting of those who are "corrupt," "anti-democratic," and "protectors of rioters."
"I am confident that the lotus will soon bloom in West Bengal," he concluded, referring to the BJP's electoral symbol.
