New Delhi, Apr 23: In a heartbreaking development that has sent shockwaves across the country, security agencies have released sketches of two suspects involved in the ghastly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists. The Resistance Front, a shadow outfit of the Pakistan-based banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has taken responsibility for the heinous act.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Srinagar on an urgent visit and reviewed the ground situation with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. In a poignant tribute, Shah paid his last respects to the deceased before their bodies were flown to their native places. "Bharat will not bow before terrorism. The perpetrators will be brought to justice," he stated in a post on X.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official tour to Saudi Arabia, cut his visit short and returned to India to monitor the situation. Strongly condemning the attack, Modi assured that all assistance is being extended to the affected families. “Their cowardly designs will not weaken our resolve. Our fight against terrorism is steadfast and will intensify,” he declared.

According to survivor accounts, the terrorists coldly questioned the victims about their religion before opening fire—a revelation that has further outraged the nation. The victims’ remains are being airlifted to their hometowns with support from the Civil Aviation Ministry, which has urged airlines to cap fares and assist stranded travellers in returning safely.

Meanwhile, heightened security alerts have been issued in major urban centres, including Delhi and Mumbai, as authorities remain vigilant against any potential follow-up threats.

As grief and anger ripple across India, the nation stands united in demanding swift justice for those slain in one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in recent memory.
