Ahmedabad, Apr 23: Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat has been placed on high alert, with intensified security across key religious sites, transport hubs, and border areas.

A senior state official said that police and intelligence agencies have ramped up vigilance in coordination with central forces. Major pilgrimage centres like Ambaji, Dwarka, Somnath, and Pavagadh are under tight security, with special forces deployed and patrols intensified.

“Given their coastal exposure, Somnath and Dwarka are on maximum alert,” the official added, noting that surveillance has also been boosted at airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.

In Banaskantha, which borders Pakistan, SP Aksharaj Makwana confirmed increased security at Ambaji Temple, with the special operations group and snipers deployed. “All devotees must now pass through enhanced screening,” he said.

Security checks are underway on highways and urban centres, while border districts are under constant watch. Gujarat’s armed security divisions have been put on standby to deter any cross-border threats.
