Shimoga: Bishop Gerald Lobo Blesses Reconstructed Church of St Theresa

Shimoga, Jan 20: The inaugural ceremony of the reconstructed Church of St Theresa, the Little Flower of Child Jesus, Shikaripura, was held recently.
 
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Shimoga inaugurated and blessed the reconstructed church on the occasion.

Bishop Lobo presided over the Eucharistic celebration offered by 32 clergies at the church. In his homily, the Bishop reiterated the theme that Jesus is life and sustains mankind.
 
A stage programme was held after the Holy Mass at the church hall and was presided over by Bishop Lobo.
 
Congress leader Shantaveerappa Gowda and DySP Shantaraj were the chief guests on the occasion.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Gowda said that India is an abode of diverse cultures and religions which has thrived in communal harmony for many centuries.
 
Shantaraj highlighted the contributions of Christian institutions in health and education of our nation.
 
Shikaripura parish priest Fr Clement said that the building project was completed despite financial constraints and hoped that the donors would contribute in this regard.
 
Vicar General Fr Felix Noronha, Shikaripura former parish priests Fr Alphonse Lobo and Fr Denis Mathias, and Christian Association district president Jesudas were present on the dais.
 
Building contractor Benny Correa, promoter of Correa Constructions, was felicitated along with the workmen during the programme.
