Amman, Apr 27: Indian boxers continued their impressive run at the Asian U-15 and U-17 Boxing Championships, with 14 pugilists, including nine from the women’s U-15 category, storming into the finals after a dominant performance on the eighth day of competition.

Before the day's play began, India had already assured itself of 43 medals. However, a flurry of semifinal wins saw the young boxers convert many of their assured bronzes into potential silver and gold.

In the Women’s U-15 semifinals, Komal (30-33 kg), Navya (58 kg), and Sunaina (61 kg) secured emphatic Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) wins. Khushi Ahlawat (35 kg), Tamanna (37 kg), Princi (52 kg), and Trushana Mohite (67 kg) cruised through with commanding wins by points.

Milky Meinam (43 kg) showcased resilience, clinching a narrow 3-2 victory to add to India’s tally. Meanwhile, Svi (40 kg) and Vanshika (70+ kg) advanced directly to the final after receiving byes.

In the Men’s U-15 division, Sanskar Vinod (35 kg) became the first Indian to reach the final with a RSC victory over Kyrgyzstan’s Arsen Zhorobaev. He was later joined by Rudraksh Singh Khaidem (46 kg), Abhijeet (61 kg), and Lakshay Phogat (64 kg), all winning comfortably on points.

Despite a few setbacks in other categories, India's boxing contingent ended the day on a high, eyeing a rich medal haul as the finals approach.
