Vijayapura, May 3: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Saturday came down heavily on Karnataka Housing and Waqf Minister BZ Zameer Ahmad Khan for his controversial “suicide bomber” remark, urging him to trust the Indian Army and refrain from making sensational statements in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Reacting sharply to the minister’s comment that he was ready to strap a bomb and walk into Pakistan for India, Joshi said, “He doesn’t need to become a suicide bomber. If he just keeps his trust in the Indian Army and remains quiet, that itself will be a big service to the country.”
Speaking to the media after visiting the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha temple in Toravi, Vijayapura, Joshi lashed out at Congress leaders for what he termed as "confusing and irresponsible statements" in the aftermath of the attack.
“Look at their leaders—Robert Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge, Siddaramaiah, Santosh Lad, RB Timmapur, and now Zameer Khan. Everyone seems to be singing their own tune,” Joshi said, accusing the Congress party of lacking consistency on matters of national security.
Mocking Zameer Khan’s viral video where he declared his willingness to become a “suicide bomber” for the nation, Joshi said sarcastically, “Now he says he is ready for war with Pakistan if Prime Minister Modi gives the green signal. That proves he is a great martyr, doesn’t it?”
He added that the Indian Army is capable and vigilant, and urged political leaders to refrain from interfering in matters of national defence. “Let the Army and intelligence agencies do their job. Politicians should stop referring to terrorists as ‘brothers’ and making such statements,” Joshi remarked.
Continuing his critique, Joshi alleged that Congress leaders were “indirectly speaking on behalf of Pakistan” after the Pahalgam attack and then making a U-turn by demanding retaliation.
“In Delhi, they show support for the Centre, and here they blame our intelligence. Under the UPA regime, the country witnessed the horrific Mumbai attacks. But under our government, we’ve largely prevented major attacks,” he said.
He also brought up the issue of Indus water diplomacy, claiming that Congress is questioning the BJP government on where the water is being held. “Pakistan understands what it means when we hold back water. But Congress doesn’t seem to get it,” Joshi added.
Meanwhile, the video of Minister Zameer Khan making the explosive remark has gone viral on social media, garnering mixed reactions from the public. While some have praised the sentiment, others have criticized the language used.
