New Delhi, May 11: A day after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire, the Indian Air Force (IAF) declared it had successfully completed its missions under Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on X, the IAF said it had executed its tasks with “precision and professionalism” and added that the operations were carried out “in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with national objectives.” It urged the public to avoid speculation and wait for a detailed briefing to be issued later, as some parts of the operation are still ongoing.
Operation Sindoor was initiated on May 7 to target multiple terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir after an attack in Pahalgam left several civilians dead. The retaliatory strikes were part of a broader military response involving both ground and air units.

Even as the ceasefire agreement was announced on Saturday, drone sightings and explosions were reported in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said late Saturday night that Pakistan had already violated the terms of the ceasefire and warned that India’s armed forces were giving an “adequate and appropriate” response.
He called on Pakistan to take “appropriate steps” and deal with the situation with “seriousness and responsibility.” Misri also stressed that Indian forces were on high alert and under clear instructions to respond firmly to any further violations along the International Border and Line of Control.
On Sunday afternoon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held another high-level meeting at his residence to review the situation. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs. The focus remained on reinforcing border security and evaluating strategic options in light of the evolving situation.
