Mangaluru: Man who died of heart attack on Chennai Mail identified as CISF ASI

Mangaluru, May 18: A day after a passenger died on board the 12602 Mangaluru–Chennai Mail despite swift intervention by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, the deceased has now been identified as a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.

According to official sources, the passenger has been identified as A Ramanaiah, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of CISF, hailing from Lingasmudram Mandal in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.

The incident, which occurred around 1:35 pm on May 17, saw RPF inspector Manoj Kumar Yadav and his team promptly respond to an emergency in the general coach of the train at Mangaluru Central station. Despite their valiant efforts, including CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, Ramanaiah was declared dead at Government Wenlock Hospital around 4 pm.

In connection with the incident, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Mangaluru has registered a case under UDR No. 09/25 as per Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The case is currently under investigation.
