Mangalore, Jan 24: "The defamatory statements against Muslim community by RSS leader Dr Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka during his speech at the Hindu Samajotsava is strongly condemned by the Muslim Central Committee," Al Haj K S Mohammed Masood, president of The Muslim Central Committee (DK and Udupi district).
At a press conference held on Tuesday January 24, Masood said that during the Samajotsava in Uppinangady on Sunday January 22, Dr Bhat "humiliated the women of Muslim community," which is unfortunate and regrettable.
"We would have co-operated with Samajotsava, but calling the whole community as thieves and cheats is strongly condemned," he said. "The love jihad allegation levelled by Dr Bhat is baseless," he added.
"Dr Bhat has an attitude of questioning the presence of police. He has also been disturbing communal harmony. He should be immediately arrested and be barred from entering the district," said Masood. He also criticized Dr Bhat for belittling ‘Shariah’, the Islamic law.
He informed that a protest will be held in front of the DC’s office here on January 30 at 3 pm urging police to book Dr Bhat under goonda act and arrest him.
Committee members Ibrahim Kodijal, Abubakkar, Ashraf among others were present.

Mangalore, Jan 24: "Hindu Samajotsavas have been organized for 20 years, and the one in Uppinangady was held this time to create awareness among Hindus about the perils of the proposed Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill," said Prof M B Puranik, regional vice-president of state VHP.
He was addressing a press conference here on Tuesday January 24.
"Prior permission was also obtained and plenty of policemen were also present. However, a group of people belonging to another community pelted stones on those who were returning after the completion of the Samajotsava. Though people had other ways to express their protest, they crossed all legal limits," he said.
"Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajarang Dal strongly condemn the police action of registering FIR against Dr Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka. Hindus who came to Samajotsava did not posses any stone or weapon with them, but people of other the community with the intention of creating chaos at the venue, assaulted the people," he said.
He also said that Dr Prabhakar Bhat is a straightforward man who calls 'black as black' and added that if case against him is not withdrawn, more pressure will be put.
He continued, "Restraining the freedom of expression of Hindus is against the provisions of the Constitution of India and political leaders joining hands with people involved in religious conversion, cow slaughtering, love jihad and drug mafia is dangerous.
VHP and Bajarang Dal leaders Jagadeesh Shenava, Gopal Kutthar, Sharan Pumpwell, Shivanand Mendon, Harish Amtady were present at the press conference.
