New Delhi, Jul 9: Electric vehicle (EV) sales in India continued their upward trajectory with a sharp 28.60% rise in June 2025, reaching 1,80,238 units, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Associations (FADA) on Tuesday. The surge was led by an impressive jump in electric passenger vehicle (e-PV) sales.

FADA reported that e-PV sales nearly doubled year-on-year, jumping 79.95% to 13,178 units in June 2025 from 7,323 units in June 2024. This pushed the e-PV segment’s market share within the EV category to 4.4%, up from 2.5% last year.

Electric two-wheeler sales also grew strongly, rising 31.69% to 1,05,355 units compared to 80,003 units a year ago. Their market share expanded to 7.3% from 5.8% in June 2024, indicating rising consumer confidence in EV technology.

The three-wheeler EV segment remained dominant, with sales up 15.79% at 60,559 units, capturing a 60.2% share of the overall EV market, up from 55.4% in June 2024.

Meanwhile, electric commercial vehicles (e-CVs) posted the highest year-on-year growth rate, with sales more than doubling at 1,146 units in June 2025 compared to 515 units last year—a 122.5% spike.

FADA President C S Vigneshwar credited the growth to the Centre’s PM e-Drive Scheme and expanding EV infrastructure. “By expanding charging infrastructure and fostering domestic innovation, this visionary initiative is driving record EV sales and charting a path to a cleaner, smarter, and self-reliant mobility future for India,” he said.

Analysts view the sustained momentum as a sign that electric mobility is becoming more mainstream across all segments, including private and commercial transportation.
