Jordan condemns Israeli Settlers’ provocative entry into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Amman, Jun 3: The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs has strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Israeli settlers, calling it a provocative and dangerous act.

On Monday and Tuesday, hundreds of settlers entered the Al-Aqsa compound in occupied East Jerusalem under the protection of Israeli police. Jordan described the move as a deliberate attempt to impose new temporal and spatial divisions at the holy site.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah stated that such actions would not be possible without the clear support and facilitation of Israeli authorities. He urged Israel to put an end to these “irresponsible and dangerous practices.”

According to Petra news agency, some settlers went as far as performing Talmudic rituals inside the compound, including the “epic prostration,” a controversial act in the sensitive area.

Qudah reaffirmed that Al-Aqsa’s 144-dunam area is solely a place of worship for Muslims. He also emphasized that the Jerusalem Endowments Council, affiliated with Jordan’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, is the only legally recognized body responsible for managing the mosque's affairs.
