Cairo, Jun 4: In a significant diplomatic outreach, an all-party Indian Parliamentary delegation led by NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar MP Supriya Sule met Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday, expressing deep appreciation for Egypt’s strong condemnation of terrorism and reiterating India’s firm resolve to fight the global menace.
According to a press statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Egypt, the delegation conveyed India’s gratitude for Egypt’s unequivocal support following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, and underlined the need for sustained cooperation to counter cross-border terrorism.

The delegation, currently on a two-day official visit to Egypt, includes a diverse political representation with BJP MPs Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Singh Thakur and V. Muraleedharan; Congress MPs Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma; AAP MP Vikramjeet Singh Sahney; TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu; and former Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin.
After visiting Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa, the group arrived in Cairo on Monday and has since been engaging with key Egyptian leaders, intellectuals, and policy-makers. On the second day of the visit, the delegation met with top officials of the Arab League, including Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and discussed wide-ranging political, economic and cultural cooperation between India and the Arab world.
Both sides reaffirmed their strategic partnership and placed strong emphasis on enhanced collaboration in counter-terrorism, calling for multilateral efforts to combat extremist ideologies.
In a solemn tribute earlier on Tuesday, the Indian MPs paid respects at the Heliopolis War Memorial in Cairo, honouring the sacrifices of Indian soldiers who fought in World Wars I and II. The memorial, which includes the Heliopolis (Port Tewfik) and Heliopolis (Aden) sections, stands as a poignant reminder of shared history between the two nations. The members also signed the visitor’s book in a gesture of respect.
In a high-level interactive session chaired by former Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, the Indian delegation engaged with media leaders and influential thinkers from Egypt, elaborating India’s unwavering commitment to combatting terrorism and strengthening regional peace.
Indian MPs were also interviewed by prominent Egyptian media outlets, where they highlighted India’s vision for people-centric diplomacy and collaborative international engagement in addressing security threats.
The visit underscores India’s intention to brief global partners on the country’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and to strengthen strategic ties with Egypt and the broader Arab world in the fight against terrorism.
The embassy reaffirmed that the engagements in Cairo marked a significant step forward in the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership, rooted in mutual respect, historical bonds, and a shared vision for global security and cooperation.
