Centre of excellence for persons with disabilities inaugurated in Mapusa

Mapusa, Jun 4: In a major boost to inclusive development in Goa, Aastha’s Centre of Excellence for Persons with Disabilities was inaugurated on Tuesday at Khorlim, Mapusa under the aegis of Aastha’s Anand Niketan.

Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant formally inaugurated the facility, calling it “a landmark in our commitment to an inclusive and equitable society.” Minister Subhash Phaldessai, MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Deputy Speaker Joshua De Souza, Disability Commissioner Guruprasad Pawaskar, and Paralympic medallist Padma Shri Deepa Malik were among the dignitaries present.

Aimed at providing holistic support, the centre houses multiple therapy and rehabilitation units, including Saksham (Physiotherapy), Sargam (Music & Dance Therapy), Apar (Early Intervention), Swayam (Occupational Therapy), Mhadei (Hydrotherapy), Shruti (Speech & Audiology), Siddham (Vocational Training), and Ambar (Seminar Hall).

“This is more than just a facility—it’s a symbol of Goa’s collective resolve to empower every citizen,” said Minister Phaldessai.

President of Aastha’s Anand Niketan Siddhesh Kotkar welcomed the gathering and shared the vision behind the initiative, while Deepa Malik spoke on the life-changing potential of such centres.

The event drew wide participation from families, NGOs, and sector experts. Aastha has called upon the public to visit the centre and support its inclusive mission.
